ano ginagawa ko sa work? isa akong lead programmer (yep.. pinagyayabang ko yan kasi hindi talaga ako programmer by default hehe) at meron din akong 4 na hinahawakan na programmers (php/asp/vb/vb) ang kulang ko nalang is java (aktwali naghahanap ako ng matinik na ui developer either java or vb bastat marunong lang mag sockets)
gumawa ako ng api namin.. bali lahat ng programmers co-connect sa aken tas ako mag bibigay ng data (i do the dirty work).. nung una soap yung ginawa ko.. kaso may drawback sa soap... masyado mataba yung data (xml!) tapos may http overhead pa.. so gumawa ako ng socket service (ginaya ko yung packet format ng cimd2 [link] at ucp/emi [link] na merong zlib compression [zlib]).. so far ambilis.. gulat nga yung yung vb programmer namin.. nung una ang bagal sa soap.. matagal mag export sa datagrid nya tas etong sockets mas mabilis pa kaysa kumonek sa sql mismo hehe.. dahil nilagyan ko ng compression.. sa 16kb worth of data nagiging 8kb lang.. nabigyan din ako ng idea ni lagur.. gamit ako ng binaryreader at mag stick ako sa 8byte packet.. pabor yun kung integers ang data pero kung strings uh... siguro pag may time mag eexperimento ako.. kaso mahihirapan yung mga php programmers.. kelangan yung api ko open sa lahat..
yung nature ng work ko ngayon ay bpo(outsourcing).. karamihan ng clients namin ay government agencies.. hinahandle namin yung computerization ng system nila, sms service at voice service..
format
nagbuburn ako ngayon ng mga anime, movies, apps at kung ano ano pa.. kasi lahat ng mga yan nakalagay sa isang 160gb 'fat32' na hd.. balak ko formatin at gawing ext3 at dun ko ilalagay yung vmware data files.. medyo mabagal ang current vmware ko at nakalagay den sya sa main partition ng debian ko.. at isa pa masyado maliit ang 4gb para sa xp so gagawa nalang ulit ako ng bagong xp gawin kong 30GB.. take note yung xp hindi main os.. virtual os lang sa loob ng debian ko.. gagamit ako ng vmware..
ni release den last week yung vmware workstation 6.0.1.. nawala na yung gtk bug sa debian.. yung bug me kinalaman sa gtk2.. dati ginagawa ko 'export VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes' para mapagana ko vmware... ngayon kahit wala na yan gumagana na sya ng matino

adobe flash linux update
ngayon ko lang nalaman me bagong update yung flash player sa linux [link] nung july 10 pa pala yung update hehe.. anyway sana hindi na mag crash yung firefox ko sa mga flash sites.. pag dumadalaw kasi ako sa mga sites na puro flash hindi kinakayanan ng browser ko at umaabot sa 100% cpu usage.. wala akong choice kundi mag 'kill -9'.. sana ito yung sagot sa aking problema

napapansin ko bumabagal ang crawl ng google sa isang site kapag hindi "masyado" naguupdate ang index page ng mga 6-12 days.. so kelangan me nagbabago sa front page mismo hindi pwede yung random generated text or images.. me algorithm ang mga search engines pag dating sa ganun.. anyways mag uupdate nalang ulit ako parati.. nakakatamad kasi at wala den maisip na mailagay
msdn connection termination
I got an email from microsoft@newsletters.microsoft.com today. And it states that MSDN will be closed temporarily. Although they will start another program which is similar to the current MSDN but with nice features and ui. Who needs msdn if we've got Google? In fact it's better and faster to search in Google than msdn.

linux kernel 2.6.22 released
kernel-2.6.22 is the latest stable version of linux. An overview of all the changes are located here [link]. Marvell Yukon based chipsets (sky2) specially Gigabyte motherboards will work again without patches. Download the latest kernel either full source or patched source at kernel.org [link]
thunderbird 3 with tab support
According to David Bienvenu [link] thunderbird 3 will support tabs. I haven't tried it yet but tab support is already available in the thunderbird nightly release code. You may download it at the mozilla developer central page [link]. Currently there are issues with tab support eg.
They've probably fixed it already since the announcement was made on Jun 27.

thunderbird and lightning
Last time I used Windows XP as my main OS, I was using Outlook 2003. If you're wondering why I was using Outlook as my MUA (mail user agent), it's because it integrates with my pda via activesync. Calendar, email and contacts are synchronized. Now, I am using Debian GNU Linux. What are my options? None. Although I don't use my pda anymore I still need a better mua that has at least a calendar, html and image viewing feature.
I tried using Sylpheed, Sylpheed-claws and Thunderbird. Sylpheed is the fastest (send, receive and loading) but Thunderbird is more complete. I have a lot of email addresses (14 to be exact) and Thunderbird handles them well (spam filter, thread sort, images, html etc). The only problem is a calendar feature. Last month Mozilla release Sunbird 0.5 and I just found out lately that they also released Lightning 0.5 (the standalone plugin for Thunderbird). Sunbird and Lightning is the calendar application I was looking for and frankly it's in par with Outlook.
I tested adding events, tasks and alarm. All are working great. I've added some screenshots of Thunderbird with Lightning installed.

nilabas na yung kernel 2.6.21 (mga 3 days ago?) and maraming improvements hindi ko alam yung technical details pero ayon sa nabasa ko malaking improvement daw sa mga gumagamit ng virtualization (vmware at xen).. tapos me bagong dagdag pa yung 'high resolution times' medyo improvement to (speedwise) ang problema hindi ma detect yung lan card ko (builtin sya) yung mobo ko ay 'Gigabyte GA-965P-S3' so bumalik ako sa dati kong kernel (2.6.20.6) eto yung nilalabas ng 'lspci -v' para sa lan card ko

medyo na-adik nga ako sa vmware link balak ko kumuha ng extra mem para sa gateway box ko.. ang nakalagay ngayon 512mb gusto ko sana kahit 1gig man lang tapos install ako ng win2k3 or xp tapos me mga guest os ako.. siguro isang firewall at isang squid para testing.. ayon sa nabasa ko possible i-virtual yung external nic (sample mydestiny) tapos yung isang nic naka bridge sa local network dito.. ansaya diba hehe ram lang talaga kelangan... at balak ko den gamitin vmware sa production environment (sa opisina) tutal hindi naman graphics mga hina-handle ko puro server types so 'ram' pa den kelangan

nag download ako ng e17 cvs at sinubukan ko sya ulit (dati ni try ko sya kaso marami masyadong problema lalo na pag add ng apps) pero ngayon medyo ok ok na sya isang beses palang ako nag crash hehe (nag open ako ng video sa konqueror) iniisip nyo ano kinalaman ng konqueror sa e17? ang e17 ay naghahandle ng windows (window borders etc) window manager ang e17 sa ngayon (alam ko kasi hindi lang window manager ang target ng e17)
